The George Hotel

The room was cozy and breakfast was decent, so I had a good stay on my business trip. One evening, though, I lost an hour because the sauna hadn't been turned on, even though I'd asked and paid for it at reception. It wasn't a big deal, but I don't understand how that happened.

The bar and restaurant felt really classy, and the background music was trendy. Even the rooms have subtle decorative touches. It was my first time staying here, and I enjoyed every minute. The place just gives off good vibes. I'll be back next year!

The hotel feels new and modern, with parking underneath. It's at the quieter edge of busy St. George. Buses stop nearby, but it's a long walk to the U-Bahn. The rooms look good and the beds were fine, though a little too hard for me. The room was too warm at night, and we couldn't work out whether or how the air conditioning was meant to work. The room size was just okay, and the Wi-Fi worked well without a password. The decor is hip and very dark. The bar looks fancy, but smelled bad, maybe from truffle carpaccio sauce that seemed to be noticeable everywhere. On our second night there was a party with loud music and guests who weren't staying at the hotel. Neither night had comfortable chairs. Parking cost 27 euros for the night and breakfast was 26 euros. Cocktails ranged from 10 to 98 euros, with all kinds of fancy drinks for the rich and famous. Hamburg is getting expensive, and this hotel is too. We didn't go up to the terrace or visit the spa, and we weren't sure whether either was open or even there. Either way, they'd probably cost more. For value for money, I say no.

Both times I stayed at The George, the staff were friendly and very accommodating, and room service arrived on time. The restaurant is superb, and the beds are comfortable. It's also convenient for groceries, buses, trains, and restaurants. This was my second visit, after first staying in 2023, and I spent 4-5 nights each time. Whenever I travel to Hamburg from overseas, I'll stay at The George.
