Entree Hotel Groß Borstel

The airline put me up here after my flight was cancelled. The room was dated and had no curtains to keep the light out, and there was no food. There was a free mini bar, though. Reception service was good, and the hotel is 10 mins from the airport. There are lots of steps at the entrance, so it’s difficult with a disability or heavy luggage.

The reception staff were friendly, the windows kept street noise out well, the bed was comfortable, and the location was nice, with grocery stores, restaurants, and cafes nearby. But the room was so dusty and dirty that we bought alcohol at a nearby store and cleaned it ourselves. It looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned for months. There was hair and stains on the bed sheets, so I asked reception for another set and changed them myself. The replacement wasn’t very clean either. I stayed three days and nobody brought more toilet paper, took out the trash, or changed the towels. I had to ask at reception for papel. The room also wasn’t ready at the stated 15h check-in time, and we waited until 15:30h. There was basically no service. Definitely don’t recommend.

It’s a shame, because the place has potential. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was adequate, the location worked well, and there was free street parking. It was quiet, too. But the carpets were heavily stained, the chair had a big mark on it, and the couch looked like garbage. I wouldn’t have wanted to sit on it and risk hurting my back. The elevator didn’t work, and the included Wi-Fi only reached the reception area, apparently because the router couldn’t cover the second floor. These are basic services that should be reflected in the price, or compensated for when they aren’t available. I can’t recommend it.

The view was amazing, and breakfast was really good. I loved the hotel’s warm, romantic feel and its good location.
