Staff were very friendly, and the service was excellent all around. My room was thoroughly cleaned during the day, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was good, though there was no bath and the toilet wasn't in a separate room. The location was good, in a quiet, affluent part of town. I did see a homeless person sleeping around the corner. The Alsterrunde, a 7.4km running route, is nearby and easy to reach. The listed costs were €34 per person for breakfast, €32 a day for parking, €0,64 per kWh for EV charging with a four-hour maximum, and €50 per person for a sauna day pass. You can't use the pool or fitness area without a sauna day pass or membership. I missed having a coffee machine or electric kettle in the room. The air conditioning and temperature control also felt dated, with just a dial and fan buttons rather than a display of the actual temperature.

Everyone else on staff was fantastic, and I'd definitely come back. The people working behind the bar seemed disinterested, though. Even with that, it was still a five-star stay for me.

The location worked especially well for my conference, since the hotel is right next to the conference center. Beyond that, though, it was a long way from things I needed. There were no sandwich shops, coffee shops, or grocery stores within a 20-minute walk, and no pharmacies within 10-15 minutes. There is a sandwich shop in the nearby train station, which may be the only option within five minutes. I picked up a virus from the plane and speak from experience: bring cold medicine in case, because finding a pharmacy can be very difficult if you don't speak German. The walk into town is long, though scenic. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable for working, and the balcony overlooking the park was well worth requesting. It was too cold to sit outside, but I could leave the door open for fresh air. There was a small fridge stocked with drinks for purchase; I moved things around to make space for a sandwich. Staff were kind, professional, and quick to switch to English. I couldn't get the early check-in I'd requested because they were busy, but the front desk woman called housekeeping to see if they could prioritize my room. I'd been traveling internationally and awake more than 30 hours, so I really appreciated it. Housekeeping was also excellent. When I put out the do-not-disturb sign in the morning, they came back later that day or evening to offer to clean. The room had no coffee or hot water kettle, so I was glad I'd brought a dual-voltage travel kettle, a travel French press, and tea. BalBali from Amazon was the kettle I used. There isn't an easy coffee option at the hotel or on the street; the hotel's restaurants are expensive and may be the only nearby choice. I'd recommend adding breakfast when you book. I thought the buffet was worth it, with fruit, cheese, bread, meat, and boiled eggs. Fellow Americans, there were no pancakes, waffles, or scrambled eggs. Coffee is available, but a waiter has to bring it, and they'll expect a tip. If you don't bring your own coffee setup, though, breakfast may be your best option. Bring snacks too, and cold medicine and cough drops just in case. I had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel for a conference, with some planning for food and coffee.

I only stopped by the restaurant for coffee, no overnight stay. The cakes and cookies were great, and the service was good too. I'll be back for more.

The room was traditionally spectacular, and the hotel itself was beautiful. Staff were so helpful and friendly, and spoke English well. Absolutely stunning, everything felt perfect.
