Hansa Apartments Hamburg

The treehouse smelled like vomit, and so did the room. The mattresses were covered in piss, the furniture looked like it came from bulky waste, and the floor was dirty. I won't even start on the kitchen. Check out my pictures and the owner's... You can't even get out of the car without getting your nails in.

The regional train, shops, and a café are only a few minutes' walk away. That's about the only upside. We paid a lot for a bed and shower, and got nothing else, not even an apology. The apartment looked okay at first glance, and booking was easy, but several things were missing or broken. There was no coffee machine. The bathroom skylight seemed questionable, and hygiene in the bathroom, especially in the closets, was nonexistent. In the bedroom, the blind on the other side of the roof was just a cord, with the rest missing. The bathroom was barely cleaned, with old cobwebs. There was no sink plug, the kitchen utensils weren't really clean, and dirt was left in many corners. We had only one dish towel, which we had to put in front of the refrigerator because it was leaking water. Cooking was practically impossible, and clothing storage was dirty or absent. We also found the smoke detector dismantled and dusty in a closet. We emailed our complaints with photos within the first 24 hours. We got one inappropriate reply and the rest was ignored. The apartment is directly on a four-lane road, with lots of sirens from a nearby ambulance station.

I booked the two apartments for my family and brother-in-law before reading the reviews, then went in feeling pretty nervous. To my surprise, they weren't like the older negative reviews described. The apartments were clean, and the kitchen was tidy and hygienic. They were excellent value, and I'd happily stay again. Five stars from me to counter those old bad reviews.

We stayed in apartment 1B a few days ago for the Hafengeburtstag. The rail connection to the harbor was good, and that's the only reason I'm giving it a star. There were cobwebs everywhere, hardly any dishes, and not a single wardrobe in the whole apartment. We only had two chairs to sit on, and the terrace couldn't be used. I can't recommend this place.
