Hostel West light

The photos make the single and double rooms look cheap, but what they actually offer is one single bed in a hostel room with 20 beds. The hostel price is even higher. Reviews had warned us to check with the hotel first, and I can see why. One of the photos also shows their so-called double room, which looks fake. This place is a scam.

There's no elevator, so be prepared if you're carrying big bags like we were. The room was pretty nice, though the floor was quite dirty. The rest was okay. Drinks in the fridge and items at the little store next door can only be paid for in cash. Weekends get a bit loud outside, but with the windows shut I could fall asleep easily. We also tried to check out early, around 6:30. Don't count on finding anyone at reception then. We nearly missed our train after searching all over the ground floor and calling a couple of numbers. Eventually a sleepy receptionist answered and told us to leave the card at the front desk.

The printer was broken, so check-in took a while. Once that was sorted, we got room 11. It was great, clean and quiet, with everything you need. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

The Reeperbahn S-Bahn station is just a minute away. My room was clean and comfortable, and I enjoyed my stay.
