We were right in the heart of Hamburg’s St. Pauli district, yet the hotel felt quiet, clean, and completely safe. It didn’t match the stereotypes you might expect of the red light area. Our room was comfortable, and the staff gave us a warm welcome and went out of their way to handle every special request. A great base for exploring the city and its history.

After I realized the booking was for the wrong date, I called the hotel the next morning. They told me I still had to pay the full amount for two nights, with no help or customer service. Before that, they had called several times at 4:30 am, and when I checked the number I thought it was a scam. A horrible experience. Stay away.

The neighborhood made it hard to sleep. Beatles Platz was dirty and extremely loud until 5 in the morning each night, with young people singing and screaming and bottles breaking. The online listing made the area look appealing, but after seeing how bar and strip club districts are viewed in North America, we wouldn't have chosen it. I also wouldn't recommend the area's dining: mostly bar food and fast food, including the Turkish restaurants. You'll find much nicer Turkish restaurants elsewhere in Hamburg. Inside, the hotel looks beautiful, modern, and stylish, but several things we reported after our first night were still unresolved when we left after three nights. The shower doors wouldn't close, the shower ventilation didn't work, and staff confirmed they knew about these problems. We also asked for hypoallergenic linen, but didn't get it. The hotel's detergent made it so uncomfortable to sleep that I had to heavily medicate myself with allergy medicine. We know these may seem like small details to some people, but they affect our comfort. We've stayed in tiny places over 100-200 years old and never had to worry about things like this. The toiletries were nice, though the soap dispensers only gave out a few drops. The vanity kit was empty from day one, and even though I left it where staff would see it, it stayed empty every day. The body lotion was never refilled either. The broken coat hook was almost funny: staff used it to hang the hotel cleaning information despite knowing it was broken. Breakfast wasn't included, and finding affordable accommodation in Germany was difficult during our two weeks of travel. Locals explained that prices were largely due to Covid and the war in Ukraine. Most other places we stayed had coffee and tea in the lobby, but here we were told to pay for it at the restaurant, from the same self-service machine other hotels let guests use. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding, since we weren't charged at checkout. The candy station in the lobby was cute, but not helpful if you're diabetic. I'd have preferred simple coffee and tea service. The hotel doesn't make me hate it, but I wouldn't recommend it if the little things matter to you.

For getting around Hamburg, this place is really handy: the metro is only 100 meters away, and you can get to the airport or central station. The staff are welcoming and the comfort is perfect. To me, it's the best place to stay in Hamburg.

The room had a lovely Rituals scent, and every staff member I met was so helpful. It's a tiny but beautiful, luxurious hotel, and I was given a really warm welcome. I'll definitely come back.
