Hotel Alster

The breakfast room has plenty of seats, though the food selection is fairly basic: bread, scrambled eggs, Nutella, coffee and juice. Our room was clean and comfortable, with good lighting and decent TV options. The bathroom is tiny, so keep your expectations modest. We reused our towels during the stay. It’s a pleasant budget hotel near St Georg’s gay neighborhood. The elevator worked fine, and I felt safe both in the hotel and outside. I’d stay here again.

There were a few avoidable annoyances during our stay. Some bathroom tiles were loose, and the bin still had the previous guest’s rubbish in it. Staff also chose to clean the lobby and breakfast room while people were having breakfast. Still, for the price and location, it’s hard to find a better deal quickly. If you can put up with a few inconveniences, it’s a decent budget place.

Fahim deserves a special thank you. He’s professional, kind, always ready to help, and greets you with a smile. The whole reception team is great, and I really appreciate the service. I always stay at Novum Hotel Alster - St. Georg when I’m in Hamburg. The rooms, breakfast, and location are all just right, and it feels like home. I’m already looking forward to coming back soon.

A lovely stay overall, with a nice breakfast and a handy location in a corner hotel. My room was on the first floor over the entrance. Since it was July, early deliveries meant noisy truck engines, and smoke from people lingering outside would drift through my window. I don’t know that the hotel could do much about either issue. I may have left my laptop charger there, but couldn’t get through to the front desk by phone, only reservations. I emailed too and never heard back.
