Hotel Amsterdam

We'd gladly come back. The breakfast was good, with our own little mixed plate, and felt just right for the price. Parking was free from 8PM to 9AM, then a day ticket cost 10 EURO, much better than paying by the hour. It was easy to find. The reception was very friendly over the phone, and at check-in they gave us advice about parking and the City.

The price makes it worth looking at other options. Although the hotel is in Hamburg, it felt more like a hostel, on the second floor of a building with other hotels. During winter, the room was quite cold because the old building had no working heating. I reported it in the early afternoon, and the receptionist said they'd check with a technician, but I never got an update by email, message, or in person. When I returned at night, there was still no heat, and nobody was available to deal with the complaint. The phone number didn't work either. There wasn't a 24-hour receptionist, and despite claims about a night porter, in my experience no one was in the designated room in the middle of the night. Be cautious and read about this before booking.

We booked for my elderly parents, and the room they gave us was at the end of the hall, up a narrow staircase, with the bathroom at the bottom of the stairs. No one was available to help us move rooms at check-in. When we said the room wasn't suitable, they offered no sympathy or help and told me I was to blame for not saying my parents were HANDICAPPED, which they aren't. Terrible experience. I'd literally rather stay in a crack house, and this place happens to resemble one. Do yourself a favor and AVOID.

The location is central and the staff are nice, but the room disappointed me. There was no private bathroom, the soundproofing was poor, and it was dusty. It also felt too old to keep the cold out. I slept badly and got sick the next day. 120 is overpriced.
