Check-in Hamburg

I know this goes against some of the other reviews. The bed and bathroom were clean, and apart from a mattress that didn't look very inviting, things were okay. Nothing fancy, but at that price I wasn't expecting fancy. I just wanted somewhere to sleep for one night, and that's what I got. No bedbugs, no termites, and no staff. Not my worst stay, but definitely one star.

We found bed bugs all over the room. At €340 for one night, that's disgusting. The hotel wouldn't even acknowledge our complaint, saying their other guests were very satisfied. We can provide photos. The location wasn't a redeeming feature either. The room was in a rough area, with people fighting right below the windows at night. I'd never stay here again and would go miles out of my way to avoid it. If a star weren't required, I wouldn't give it one.

The room and toilet were clean, but there was a strange smell in the room. Maybe it came from restaurant ventilation, since the window faced the courtyard. The neighborhood isn't the best, with homeless people and junkies around, though that's separate from the hotel. Anyone booking in an unfamiliar city should do some research, and this sort of situation around major train stations is common across Europe. I found some of the negative reviews unfair. After booking, I got a notice to check in at a nearby location, and the process took no more than ten minutes. Complaints about that seem to come from people who didn't read the instructions. For a longer stay in Hamburg, I'd look elsewhere. If you just need a cheap bed for at most two nights, it's a reasonable option.

The hotel is close to the center, and the rooms were clean and inexpensive. Those were about the only upsides. There was no bathroom in our room, the facilities were very poor, and the whole building smelled bad. Check-in took place somewhere else, and we had to wait in line. The neighborhood felt full of strange people, so we were glad to get inside. On the street side, the screaming and traffic noise made it impossible to sleep with the window open. The photo was taken outside our room at 12 o'clock. I wouldn't recommend this place for families.
