Hotel City Inn Hamburg Mitte

The receptionist wouldn’t change our room, saying the hotel was fully booked, although it seemed to us that other rooms were available. I’d asked for a different room as soon as we arrived: ours faced the corridor used by everyone going to their rooms, so there was constant foot traffic, and it was also too close to the restaurant noise. The receptionist said he spoke English, but wouldn’t communicate with me directly and only answered my boyfriend, who is German. I still don’t know why he ignored me. That’s no way to treat a guest.

It was fairly quiet overnight, thankfully, despite a large truck stop across the road. The hotel sits in an industrial area with nowhere to go out and no restaurants after 19:00. Inside, the rooms and interiors are modern, comfortable, and carefully detailed. My bed was fine as a solo guest, and both the room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast was okay, nothing special, and the staff were friendly.

The rate was cheap, and it’s a decent place to spend a night. I’d give it three stars, which is enough.

The Afghan restaurant in the hotel is superb. Rooms were clean, and the service was good.
