We only booked here because we were visiting a family friend nearby and everywhere else was full. I wouldn’t choose it again. The bedding was clean, but much of the room felt run down or dirty: the bathroom door and shelf were broken, there were marks on the walls, the curtains were damaged, and the TV didn’t work. The bedding was real down, which gave me a lingering allergic reaction. I travel quite a bit and hadn’t seen down in a hotel for ages. Staff were nice, but seemed unsure about basic things like confirming a booking and payment. The safety setup didn’t feel reassuring, with a flimsy door, a basic lock and key, and people coming and going unchecked. My mom encountered a very drunk man fairly early in the day. There was noise from parties and late arrivals, and we could hear neighbors showering and coughing. In the morning, a group of guys woke each other by banging on doors and making a commotion. PS, the elevator is still broken ;)

We ended up staying because our cancellation request was never confirmed, even though we’d tried to cancel after reading the reviews. The room was actually clean and had a decent view, TV and good shower, so it felt good for the price in those respects. Reception spoke great English and was friendly and helpful, and seemed keen to make a good impression. They’re trying to renovate, but told us the place had been open for three months, which wasn’t true as it’s been years. The booking situation was frustrating. The owners said they had just emailed a cancellation because they’d received our request, but it hadn’t fully gone through, and we’d received no email before arriving. Parking was quoted at 30 euros and reduced to 15, but the space was awful: narrow, hard to park in, and not guaranteed, although it felt safe. The elevator didn’t work and we were on the fifth floor. There’s no air conditioning, just heaters, so it gets very hot in summer. WiFi is free but slow, only really useful for messages or YouTube. We paid for two people but got one single-bed blanket, and the shampoo and body wash were dish soap. There seemed to be many unrelated people staying in the building, perhaps because it’s also used for long-term rentals. It wasn’t especially noisy, mostly kids playing and city sounds like ambulances. The reception guy was full of talk about owning 20 hotels in Hamburg and knowing his stuff, but the hospitality didn’t match that. I wouldn’t come back and don’t think it’s worth the price. Still, if things were desperate or hotels in town were too expensive, it was acceptable for hygiene and location.

Booking this hotel was a really bad experience. The rooms were extremely dirty, the furnishings very old, and the bathroom in terrible shape. I was so worried about dirt that I put my scarf over the pillow. Reception staff were very unprofessional and didn’t seem to know how to welcome or guide guests. Check-in and personal ID weren’t seriously checked, so it felt like anyone could just come in. A large hotel should maintain its things instead of buying them once and using them for decades. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

We booked a triple room with three beds for four people through Priceline. The agreement said the extra person would cost 25 EUR, but no extra bed or mattress was provided, so I spent the whole night on the floor. Staff insisted that the triple room was for only two people and tried to charge us for two extra guests. They said, “We will not let you leave the building if you do not pay for two extra people.” I eventually managed to pay for just one extra person. When my wife tried to speak up for me, a group of people working there verbally attacked her and said she wasn’t the right person to talk because she was a woman. This happened in Hamburg, Germany. There was no internet in the bedroom, free or paid. Breakfast was stale and very poor quality. After a long argument with staff, we managed to eat a couple of eggs so we wouldn’t go hungry. The room had no air conditioning, only a fan with no cover, and the bathroom ventilation didn’t work. One bed was broken. Stay away from this place.

The room was clean and had a perfume smell that I didn’t mind, and breakfast was amazing. Reception is open 24 hours, but the guy barely spoke German and seemed a bit creepy. Still, it was a nice one-night stay.
