The staff spoke good English and were extremely friendly. The room was cleaned daily, and the cleaner even folded my pajamas when I accidentally left them on the bed. The signs for "do not disturb" and "please clean room" were in German, but easy enough to understand from the green and red colors and check and cross symbols. The hotel was a good distance from the CCH for the convention, and the area felt very safe. It was mostly quiet during our stay, close to the train station and a couple of shops but far enough away that we didn't hear them. Almost everything we needed was within a reasonable walk. My main gripe was how far our room was from the entrance. The hotel is wide rather than tall, so some rooms are quite a long way in. There are side exits, but as far as I could tell, no side entrances, so every night we had to walk through most of the hotel to get to our room. The room was a little smaller than I'd hoped, but there was enough space for me and my roommate.

The bright, very clean room worked well for me as a solo traveler, even though it looked small at first. Breakfast was generous, and the staff were courteous and attentive. Oona deserves a shout-out for being so willing to help. I also liked the well-stocked minibar and its honest policy. A charming find in Hamburg for my one-night stop before flying back to Australia after a work trip.

The staff were friendly, the service was excellent, and breakfast was thoughtfully laid out with a good range of vegetarian and vegan choices. The location is great, near the Alster Lakes and city centre, and booking through the hotel website cost less than other booking sites. My room was clean but smaller than I expected. I was surprised that the private bathroom and toilet could only be reached via the corridor. There were no windows in the bathroom, and its ventilation wasn't working.

It was hard to sleep because the hotel was so noisy at night. At checkout, we were charged 20 euros per person per day for a basic breakfast with weak coffee and dry bread. When we checked in, they had only told us the breakfast hours and hadn't mentioned that breakfast wasn't included in our booking.

We got to choose between a smaller room overlooking a nice street and a larger one facing the yard. Ours was clean and had a big TV, a desk, and two armchairs, plus a small bathtub. There’s also a minibar room you can use 24/7. Very nice hotel and service. Check-out is at 11.
