The main downside on our latest visit was the heat. The thermostat showed 23.5-25 degrees, and opening the window was the only way we could try to cool the room, but then we heard every train. We couldn't sleep with the noise and heat. On the second night a helpful receptionist found the only air conditioning unit that wasn't in storage, which was a godsend. I later learned the room air conditioning is switched off in winter. Without that unit, the remaining two nights would've been miserable. We've stayed here twice at the same time of year, and both visits were generally good. It's a modern, clean hotel in a hard-to-beat spot, well connected around Hamburg and to the airport. The rooms are comfortable. On our first stay, the double room at the front corner was spacious, well laid out, and had no issues. This time our twin room at the back was fine, but less practical, with little storage and tight space between the beds and between the beds and wall. Staff were friendly during our limited contact with them.

We were a family of four with two kids, and the room was clean and well maintained. Although it faced the railway station side, it was surprisingly quiet. The hotel is close to the station, which was convenient, and check-in and checkout were easy. The one annoying part was room service opening the door without knocking to ask when we planned to check out. They did it twice, even though we still had three hours before checkout. It was really frustrating.

The rooms were very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. For getting into town, the location is great, with the S-Bahn and U-Bahn only about 150 meters away.

The rooms were below average for an ibis, in my view, though maybe the station location brings in a lot of traffic. Parking is very limited, so if you arrive by car there's a 90% chance you'll be told to park somewhere else. The hotel is right beside the railway and quite noisy. Also, this is on the outskirts of Hamburg, not Hamburg itself.
