Steigenberger Hotel Hamburg

A lovely room, and even a beautiful coffee maker. Breakfast was tasty and had a good selection, and the service was good too. There’s a good French restaurant nearby. I enjoyed my stay, come by.

I’ve known the Steigenberger for years and always thought it was a decent hotel in a nice location. But after my stay in November, when I was in Hamburg for an award show, I left feeling belittled. I was in a hurry to catch my taxi and tried to hand over my room card, then signaled that I could leave it on the desk. The staff member was busy with another guest, but she saw me and ignored me for several minutes. I understand I should have waited my turn, but the way she deliberately disregarded me was poor customer service. It’s the small things that make the difference, and this left me thinking I won’t return to Steigenberger in Hamburg.

Breakfast is a real highlight, and the service is courteous and professional. The hotel has elegant rooms and a classic feel, right in the heart of Hamburg. Some parts could use renovation, but the comfort and refined standard are still what I’d expect from Steigenberger. A dependable option for business or a leisure trip.

The bar and restaurant have a relaxed feel, and it’s a nice place to unwind in the evening when you’re away from home. Breakfast is good too. For what it costs, you get what you pay for, though I was disappointed that the TV casting and bathroom speakers in my room didn’t work. I’d expect a hotel of this calibre to handle the room tech better.
