The place itself may look fine, but our stay was stressful and left us feeling unsafe. We were a group of 11, arriving around 17:00. At first everything seemed okay. Then, while we were having dinner around 18:45, the owner called me and followed up on WhatsApp instead of through Booking.com, saying we were too noisy. He sent a screenshot from a sound-level device inside the apartment. We later found what looked like a hidden microphone or sound monitor inside the house. Our photo shows it above the kitchen dining table. The house rules said quiet hours started at 22:00, not 18:45, so be aware that conversations inside may be recorded or monitored. After that call, we felt unsafe and left for a while. When we got back later, we were just getting ready for bed around midnight when the electricity suddenly cut out without warning. The bathroom is in the basement, and the house runs on smart devices that the owner can control remotely, which made the outage feel dangerous. I called him and said the power needed to be restored immediately. A few minutes later it came back on, which confirmed to us that he had switched it off deliberately to intimidate us. Less than 15 minutes later, he arrived at the door. He unlocked the smart lock remotely, opened the door himself, and tried to enter, accusing us of turning off his microphone. That was impossible, since the power had only just returned. We refused entry and asked him to leave. He called the police and threatened to evict us. The police were the first people we had a normal conversation with that night. We explained what had happened, and they told the owner he could not cut the electricity remotely. They also confirmed we had not been making excessive noise. We told them his behavior had made us feel extremely unsafe. We considered finding somewhere else to stay, but couldn’t afford to book another place at that point. Some of our group left early on Saturday because they no longer felt safe. The rest of us stayed, but avoided the apartment as much as possible to protect our privacy and prevent more incidents. One other issue: the listing says “free parking,” but there is only one free space. Any additional cars cost €10 per day, which should be stated clearly. We contacted Booking.com, but at first only got a message saying the issue would be “noted.” We are still in contact with them to get this handled properly. If you’re considering booking, I strongly recommend reading about the German “Hausrecht” so you understand your rights. Based on what happened to us, I can’t recommend this accommodation.
