The room was basic and sparsely furnished, which was fine. The S-Bahn passes just 3 meters from the window, but it wasn’t as loud as I expected. What made the night awful was the emergency exit sign above the door. It stayed lit all night and made the room as bright as daylight. When I asked about it, the hotel gave me an unfriendly response. If the building requires signs like that in every room, guests should be told clearly. I like that everything is digital, but several guests were left standing outside their doors trying to get into their rooms. Absolutely wouldn’t recommend this place.

The shared bathroom itself didn’t bother us, and being near the "Hamburger Straße" subway station was a real plus. We booked late, had modest expectations and didn’t want to spend €100 per person each night, so we thought a bed and toilet would be enough. We didn’t realize until we arrived that the room would be quite so hard to sleep in. A train passed right beside the window when we opened the door. With the window open, it felt like we could step onto the train. The noise was tolerable, and the electric blinds seemed like they’d make the room dark. But even with them down, the fire exit sign over the door lit the room all night, and we couldn’t fall asleep. The mattresses were too firm for us and had slippery, crinkly covers. The shared bathroom was next to our room, and the drains seemed to run through the wall by our bed. Every few minutes, we could hear a toilet flush or water draining from a shower or sink, possibly from the bathrooms upstairs too. That bothered us even more than the subway. Maybe we were unlucky to get a room with all of this at once. Rooms facing the street might avoid the trains and the drain noise, but we can’t say. After that night, I didn’t feel fit for a full day of sightseeing in Hamburg.

The price is ridiculous for what you get, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Staff were incredibly unfriendly, and the shared bathroom wasn’t cleaned. In the evenings, a train goes by every two minutes, so sleeping is impossible. Find somewhere else.

Absolute rubbish. I’d rather sleep in my car.

The heating doesn’t work, and it’s unbearably cold to sleep there!
