Hotel CULT Hamburg

The bed was the main letdown. Its mattress felt like a marshmallow, it was very narrow, and there was a large dip in the middle, so I couldn't get comfortable in any position. With a better bed, this could be a solid 4-star place. I only stayed one night, and the room itself was clean and quiet at the back of the building. Reception was friendly too. Reeperbahn is a somewhat questionable part of Hamburg, with quite a lot of homeless people around, though that didn't affect the hotel. There's a supermarket just around the corner, and Schanzenviertel, with plenty of international, affordable food and drinks, is within walking distance.

The hot water for the shower was completely off. The stairs and corridors also smelled damp. There was no parking at the property, though a nearby garage cost €20 per day. The city tax had to be paid at reception when checking in.

The room and service were good, and we were given a free upgrade to a larger room when we arrived. The receptionist was very decent and offered it to us. My only concern was the setting: the hotel is right in the heart of Reeperbahn, which didn't feel like a good location for families.

The owner was really friendly and seems to be putting effort into creating a nice atmosphere. We felt secure there, and it worked for our family even in the St Pauli neighborhood. The hotel has been recently renovated, and the room was comfortable and clean, with good-sized beds, spotless linens, strong shower pressure, windows that cut street noise, and a fan for hot days. It's 60 m from the metro station, with easy connections to train stations, a park, and driving routes.
