We came for British Afternoon Tea on a Wednesday afternoon, and it exceeded our expectations across the board. The service was very friendly, the ambience was fantastic, and the Tea itself was outstanding. After comparing similar places in Hamburg and other cities, Louis C. Jacobs is the clear winner. I paid over $600 AUD for two nights, with no breakfast and a room that felt unbearably hot. The fan I requested only moved the hot air around, and I barely slept either night, spending most of my time away from the property. The room had one glass, no kettle, two flat pillows, and a window smeared with some kind of liquid. At check-in I learned my room was across the road in a modern, airport-style motel, not the historic building shown in the listing photos. The listing says every room has a deck, but mine didn't. When I arrived early to leave my bags, no one explained the property, suggested a cafe or restaurant, or gave me any guidance about the area or where I'd be staying. I also went to the cafe to see what I was missing, but nobody served me. The place came across as two separate hotels, and the split wasn't disclosed. Given the price, I expected better facilities and hospitality. At checkout, the front desk didn't ask how the stay had gone or even say goodbye. I had to ask, “Is that everything then?” Beyond disappointed.

The rooms are spacious and nice, and the restaurant staff were good. Reception handled things efficiently, though they felt a little cold. There's a great river view, but it looks over the Airbus factory. Parking is underground, so get instructions before you arrive. For what you get, it felt too expensive, especially with the hotel so far from the city.

The Christmas decorations made the hotel lovely, and it always feels like a home away from home. They even had an advent calendar for guests, which my grandparents loved. We love coming here for a peaceful family getaway, and the food and drinks are amazing ✨
