Gästehaus Tilly Hotel

The rooms were very clean and looked after, even though the outside of the small hotel is a bit rough. The couple running it are slowly restoring the place. There's a supermarket, a drinks shop and a great ice cream cafe nearby, and it's an easy walk into the old city. A good stop for anyone on a bike tour.

We got a friendly welcome, and the guesthouse is handy for a stopover: check-in is available until 11:30 p.m., and it’s about 10 minutes from the highway. It was a little hard to find, though. The room seemed fine at first, but the bathroom was dirty and had a cotton swab on the floor. The bed also squeaked a lot. Breakfast costs extra, and they don’t take card payments. We were told the bill would come by email, but we’re still waiting for it.

It’s a guesthouse mainly meant for people using the attached restaurant. The room had everything we needed apart from an antenna cable. We had a hard drive with us, so thought we could work around that. The code entry system was new to us and took a few tries, but we got it working. Parking is at the house, and the old town is a 15-minute walk away. There’s a bakery, Penny supermarket and drinks store around the corner.

Good, clean rooms and access by code. There’s a bike garage where you can charge, and the place is right on the bike path. Breakfast isn’t included, but there’s a shop and small bakery around the corner. As a cyclist, I’d recommend it.
