The owners are what make Gasthaus Brauner Hirsch feel so special. They’re genuinely caring and warm, and made us feel at home. We’ve stayed here with our children for at least five years, and it’s been wonderful every time. The family rooms are roomy and great for travelling with kids. Everything is spotless and comfortable, and breakfast is always lovely. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else, highly recommend it!

The room was barely big enough for the bed, with little space to move around. This land hotel is also quite remote, in a river valley. Most guests seemed to be German, especially German bike tourists. At breakfast we were directed to a back room instead of the main dining room with the river valley view, even though window tables were still free. We were the only guests separated like this, so it seemed clear to me that the owners were biased because of our foreign surname. That kind of discrimination is unprofessional, and they shouldn’t assume guests won’t notice. If they want to keep advertising on international hotel booking sites, they should treat foreign guests with more respect.

The food was incredible, the best I’d had during my time in Deutschland. Try the wild boar appetizer! The hotel has large, clean rooms, a quiet setting, and the best front desk I’ve ever spent time at. The town is cute, too.
