I paid €100 cash for one night, then asked for an invoice when I checked out in the morning. They said the system was having a problem and they'd email it, but nothing ever arrived. The staff were aggressive. It was my first time at this hotel, and I was shocked. Calling it a hotel feels wrong, it was more like a dump. The room smelled dirty, and the trash bin was even worse, like a garbage container. There were spiders on the ceiling and cockroaches all over the room. The toilet was dirty and there was hair in the shower.

The staff were kind, and I was very happy with my week at Candlewood. There’s a supermarket about 200 m away, the railway station is also 200 m away, transport is around 400 m away, and the mosque is 2 km away. The staff, both the men and the young woman, were lovely. I wish Candlewood all the best.

I’ve stayed at IHG hotels many times, so I chose this one when I came to Heidelberg. The room was dirty and smelled bad, with rubbish left behind and hair in the shower and even on the bed. I also saw cockroaches running around. At check-in, a friendly man at reception gave me the key and some information, but when I went down to report the room, there was nobody there, and no one answered the phone. I waited nearly 20 minutes before returning upstairs. The next day I checked out, but they wouldn’t give me an invoice. They said there was a system problem and my name wasn’t in it, even though I’d paid at check-in. I was very disappointed with the hygiene and the staff. This is disgraceful, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to anyone.

It was quiet in the evenings, and public transport was close by. I spent 8 nights here and was very happy with my stay. The rooms were clean and had cooking utilities, with a large shopping centre nearby. The staff were helpful too. The location could be a drawback for some people.

The hotel manager is always ready to help make your stay better, and the place is very clean. I had a great stay and will come back. I’ll recommend it to my friends.
