Hotel Neckarlux

The breakfasts are the highlight for me and my family: huge and varied, with breads, boiled eggs, cheese, olives, jams, tea, coffee, orange juice, and cereal. In summer you can sit outside and look at the river, and there’s a small, quaint dining room. The owners are a kind husband and wife team, he’s Turkish and she’s German, and this is now my third stay at their darling little hotel. The rooms aren’t luxurious, but they’re clean, the beds are very comfortable, the showers have good water pressure, and the views are unlike any I’ve seen elsewhere. There’s a grocery store within walking distance, and the town center is walkable too, about 20 minutes away. They’re remodeling this Spring, and I’m excited to visit afterward. If you want somewhere cozy where you feel safe, this is the spot.

The bathroom fan was very loud and disturbing at night, but the room itself kept traffic noise out well. Although our balcony faced the road, there wasn’t much traffic outside rush hour, and we slept well. We stayed for a week in a spacious double room overlooking the Neckar, with a balcony and useful touches like a safe, large room mirror, magnifying bathroom mirror, small fridge, fan, automatic blinds, space to hang clothes, and a good shower. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, and we enjoyed dinner cooked by the owner. The owner couple were friendly, helpful, and hardworking. They fixed a room problem right away, and the cleaning and breakfast staff were friendly and efficient too. The bus stop is just steps away. Buses run every 20 minutes, take about eight minutes to reach the old town, and also go to the central station. We felt at home and will return.

Set on the outskirts of Heidelberg, the hotel gives you a peaceful evening and night with a stunning Neckar view, while still making it easy to get downtown and enjoy what the city offers. It’s especially convenient if you’re traveling by car. There’s a nice pizzeria about 200 m away, and the staff were extraordinarily welcoming.

The bus stop is right outside, with buses taking less than ten minutes to reach Heidelberg. The hotel sits by the Neckar, with beautiful views. Staff were really nice, witty, informal, and full of useful information. The rooms are clean and cozy with lovely lighting. A perfect place for a Heidelberg visit, and I really enjoyed my stay.
