Das Lamm Heidelberg

The quiet setting was such a lovely surprise. Opening the window in the morning, I could see flowers blooming and hear birds singing. It felt peaceful and restorative, almost like being in a little forest, with fresh air all around, not in the city at all. Even so, the city center was easy to reach, just three stops, so meals, shopping and sightseeing were convenient, and I could quickly come back to relax. The room at DAS LAMIM was spacious, clean, and tidy, with complete facilities and a very comfortable bed. I fell asleep almost immediately. I couldn't find any faults with the environment, room, or location, and I'm very satisfied. If I return to Heidelberg, I'd definitely choose DAS LAMM again. It's well worth recommending to families visiting Heidelberg. 👍🏼

The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere, fine Italian food, and patient, humorous wait staff. The room itself was clean, from the hardwood floor and bedding to the towels and bathroom surfaces. Room 6 had four beds, two together by the headboard and two separate under the sloped roof. I liked the seating corner with its two-seater sofa, two armchairs and round coffee table, and there was plenty of wardrobe space. The desk had no nearby outlet, so I wouldn't choose it for a business trip. The small TV was mounted awkwardly, the bathroom magnifying mirror was fixed sloppily to the wall, and the door was hard to pull shut. I called to confirm the Booking reservation and that went well. We arrived three hours early, were rightly turned away for check-in, and left our bags there. Checkout at 10:50 was frustrating: nobody was at reception, and after ringing the bell and waiting repeatedly, then calling out loudly, someone finally came. The hotel is in a quiet alley by a church, a 4-5 minute walk to the Kapellenstrasse stop for Lines 5 and 26. The walk is easy but the route isn't obvious, and the shortest way cuts through a ring of large residential buildings around a playground. The mattress firmness suited me, thankfully not too soft. The windows don't have full blackout blinds, as German windows usually do, and without total darkness my sleep suffered. The radiators were quiet and worked well, though we made the mistake of leaving the heat up, so my roommate turned it down around midnight. Too much heat disrupts sleep.

It's a lovely building in a peaceful neighborhood, with idyllic, tree-lined boulevards, and the rooms were large, clean, and well appointed. I wanted to love the hotel, but there didn't seem to be enough staff around. Check-in was confusing because the barman had to go find our key. Nobody really explained how to get to our room or where breakfast was, so we were mostly left to figure it out ourselves. Everything else was really nice, but staff were rarely available to help.

It was me and my two boys in a family room with two twin beds and a private bathroom. The room was much bigger than I'd expected, with its own sitting area, couch, TV, and a wooden desk. The bathroom was down a short hallway. Everything was clean and tidy, the staff were helpful, and the tram stop is a short walk away. A great place to stay, and I'd come back.
