We had a lovely, spacious room with neat decor, tea and coffee, and a fine view of the old bridge. It was warmer than expected on a chilly February afternoon, and we’d been upgraded to a larger room than the one we booked. Breakfast the next morning was good, with cereal, bread, pastries, cheese, ham, fruit, and cooked options. The dining room was beautifully decorated in a traditional style, and the woman serving breakfast was delightful. The location by the river in the old town made it easy to explore. We considered booking dinner at the restaurant, but when we stopped to look at the menu, the man behind the bar couldn’t be bothered to pause his conversation and show it to us. That’s why I’m taking a star off for service. We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant.

The room was spacious and very nicely decorated, and the location made it easy to walk to all the sights. We spent two nights here in December, and it was a highlight of our Christmas market road trip. The little courtyard entrance looked adorable with its Christmas decorations. Reception welcomed us warmly, introduced us to the hotel, and explained where to park our car. If we come back to Heidelberg, we’ll stay at Zur Alten Brucke again.

The people here are warm and kind, and the hotel’s close to the castle and lots of shops around town. We had a nice stay, liked the amenities, and really enjoyed the very good breakfast. I’d recommend it :)

We were so glad to find this place. The owner or manager and the staff were all really friendly. It’s right by the bridge, but far enough from the very center that it doesn’t feel too crowded. We had dinner at the restaurant and liked the local food with a bit of an elevated touch. I ordered the big local salad with roasted mushrooms and was very happy with it. Breakfast was great too, with a little hot food alongside the usual German spread of cold cheese, bread, and cheese.

The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and the whole hotel had a warm, personal feel. Staff were so kind and attentive that we felt at home. Breakfast was fantastic each morning, fresh, varied, and nicely presented. The location was perfect too. We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Zur Alten Brücke and would highly recommend it.
