Arthotel Heidelberg

The location is especially handy for the Christmas Markets, and the service felt genuinely thoughtful. On St. Nickolas, we even found a piece of chocolate outside our door when we woke up. The room temperature took some trial and error because the bathroom kept heating the main room, but that was a small issue once we understood it. The pillow was somewhere in the middle, neither great nor terrible.

We chose the XXL room, one of the larger options, and the bed was very comfortable. The building has a historic look, but the hotel feels modern and distinctive, with everything updated. The location is hard to beat for the city. When we needed something, I called and they brought it up. A young woman on our first night also suggested two restaurants, and we went to both and really enjoyed them. Breakfast was okay, with the basics and eggs available if you ask. The restaurant serves dinner, though it was closed for August. There’s a small outdoor seating area by reception and a bar, which we didn’t use. We didn’t get to enjoy the rooftop because the weather wasn’t right for sitting outside, though it looked comfortable. We had a nice view from one window. Getting to an XXL room on the third floor meant taking the elevator to the second floor, then climbing steep stairs. For the location alone, this would be my choice in the city.

Heidelberg’s sights are all close by, and our room had a great view. The room was very comfortable, with a lovely bathtub, though the water temperature varied depending on demand and timing. Staff made the place feel welcoming and had everything we needed on hand. A special mention to Jeremy for that warm welcome. It was a real oasis during pleasantly busy travels.

The rooms are really spacious, with an artsy style and a nice bath and shower. It’s close to the main street.
