Heinz made us feel welcome and was kind and attentive. The rooms were quiet and clean, with everything functional, and the bed was comfortable. Hotel Regina has very limited parking on site, though there are two garages close by. Restaurants and shops are an easy stroll away, and the Bismarckplatz tram stop is just a block away. Schloss Heidelberg is about a 1.5 km walk down Hauptstrasse, which is very, very crowded with pedestrians. A perfect place to stay. Thanks for having us, and ask Heinz to show you his picture with Paul McCartney!

Hotel Regina came through when my parents and I had just flown in from America and were struggling to find a place for three people in the old city on short notice. The front desk receptionist was delightful and arranged an extremely affordable double room, really more like a suite, plus a single. Both were stunningly clean and quiet. The hotel mixes modern and traditional details nicely. As a nostalgic neo-luddite, I especially liked that they still use physical keys and locks instead of digitized key cards. There’s also a parking lot for €10 per night. We missed it on our first pass because we were jet lagged, so the receptionist came outside to guide us there. That’s superb service. We finished our stay with a very good German breakfast in a cozy nook, for only another €10 each. Some of the picky reviews aren’t wrong: the shower pressure and temperature seem to have an inverse relationship. My plumbing at home has similar issues, so it didn’t bother me. Perfection is impossible this side of the grave. The mattresses might also not suit someone with back problems, which is a legitimate criticism. It didn’t affect me, though, and I slept nine hours in total darkness, quiet, and comfort. I unambiguously recommend Hotel Regina to travelers.

The hosts were lovely, and I had a pleasurable three-night stay. It’s a comfortable hotel at a reasonable price, right in a great central spot. Public transport, restaurants, and cafes are just around the corner, and the old town is an easy eight-minute walk. I’d strongly recommend it.

Very clean hotel, and the staff were good, nothing was too much trouble. I enjoyed breakfast and didn’t need a car since the old town is nearby. There’s no lift, but it wasn’t an issue for me with just three floors to the top. I’d stay again if I’m in Heidleberg.

The people at Hotel Regina helped turn a frightening mess into a trip we could enjoy. My husband and I had come from the United States to Heidelberg to drop our son off at a language institute before he attends Heidelberg University. On the train from Stuttgart, we left his main luggage behind on a Friday. It had his whole life in it: 900 euro, 12 months of needed medication, and all his medical and school documents. We were lost, and the language barrier made it hard to get help. Our son knew some German, but not enough to sort it out. After spending a couple of days trying the train station lost and found, we asked the owner, Heint, for help. He didn’t hesitate and said he had the right staffer, Betima, to handle it. They started calling around and told us the lost and found was closed until Monday, the next day. Then they followed up again and made sure people knew the bag contained medication our son needed. By Tuesday afternoon, we had the bag back with everything still inside. I’m sure we’d still be looking for it if we hadn’t asked the hotel. The wonderful staff went beyond their duties, and we appreciated it so much. Our stay was great too. The clean room had plenty of space, and the historic building is right in the center, close to the old Town, castle, food, and stores. Birgit, the other owner, makes a delicious breakfast with lots of variety each morning. I can’t say enough about these people. We’ll be back, and Hotel Regina is the only hotel we’ll stay at.
