Hotel Akazienhaus

The hotel itself was great, though breakfast was disappointing. Around 9:15, some things weren’t being replenished, and breakfast ended at 10:00 AM. We had to wait a long time for plates, there wasn’t enough cutlery, and someone at the next table eventually got some for me. No one offered us coffee or tea at the table. It seemed obvious they didn’t have enough staff.

The apartment costs far too much for what you get. Both the room and bathroom are very sparsely furnished, and there’s no storage in the bathroom at all. Getting into the narrow shower means stepping over a very high ledge, which is unpleasant. With no elevator, these apartments aren’t suitable for people with disabilities.

The rooms are clean, and some seem to have new furnishings, but at €150 a night they’re not worth it. I also found mold in the bathroom unacceptable. The rooms are noisy, with loud doors and sounds from the hallway, and there’s no ventilation or air conditioning, so the afternoon sun makes them very hot and they’re hard to cool down. Some photos show the main building, which has nothing to do with this apartment complex. The complex is within walking distance of the main building, but sits right on the street on public land, so it’s not convenient to pop over to the spa. Sorry, this is simply unacceptable.

I was about to dig into my frog legs when the fit, rather heavyset man at the next table glanced over. He had pork schnitzel with baked cheese and asked to try some of mine. I had to say no, but told him he could lick the plate clean instead. He didn’t seem to mind.
