The house was tidy and clean, and I got a friendly welcome when I stayed at the Schmidt family’s holiday home for a few days in March. But I came looking for peace, and that wasn’t what I got. On my first day back from an excursion, the landlord used a very loud circular saw to cut firewood until sunset. The next morning I told the landlady clearly that the noise was disturbing me, yet the sawing carried on for four days straight, usually several times a day and at different hours. Even when I was out on excursions for hours, I still had to put up with the noise near my window during my stay. On the evening of the fourth night, I raised the issue directly with the landlady. She was very unfriendly and showed no understanding. I left early. The quiet, relaxing stay I’d expected from a “well-located holiday home” never materialized. I don’t recommend this accommodation.

It’s an ideal base for hiking, and most of the main attractions are about a 30 to 45 minute drive away. Hohnstein Fortress is the exception. The place is cozy, the hosts are extremely accommodating, and the amenities are top-notch. It’s beautifully set in the countryside, while still being very centrally located.

Parking right outside the door was a real plus, and we can highly recommend the beekeeper’s honey. The holiday home is lovely, comfortable, and stocked with a wide range of useful things. We’ve never stayed in such a beautiful little house, and we’ll definitely rent it again.

We loved the honey from the owners’ own apiary, and they were very friendly. The small holiday home was clean and had everything we needed, with a quiet setting. It’s an ideal starting point for hikes. Highly recommended.

The house is small but lovely, spotlessly clean, and tidy. The garden is great, the location is perfect, and the landlords are super nice. I’d happily stay again.
