Landpension Risch

The bathroom has been renovated and is quite nice, and the rooms are clean and well equipped. This is a quiet, cozy country guesthouse, and the friendly welcome made me feel right at home. Breakfast is thoughtfully prepared, with cold cuts, spreads, vegetables, and delicious homemade jams. It made for a wonderful short break, and I’d gladly come back.

Our four-day getaway at the Risch Country Inn went by too quickly. We stayed in the "Small Apartment": a living area with a dining table, sofa, television, and kitchenette, plus a separate spacious bedroom with a large double bed. The bathroom has a sink, shower, and toilet. The breakfast room is cozy and in the same building, up a staircase, so you can reach it even when the weather is wet. Breakfast is plentiful, with rolls, bread, free-range eggs, sweet spreads, cheese, cold cuts, ham, and savory options like fresh minced pork, meat salad, and black pudding. Mrs. Risch will bring hot coffee or tea if you’d like. The inn has a variety of tastefully furnished rooms in a small, quiet village at the foot of the Thuringian Forest. It’s only a few minutes by car from the A71 motorway and neighboring Ilmenau, with tourist attractions on both the north and south sides of the Rennsteig trail easy to reach. We hope to stay here again soon.

The location is stunning, and we spent the week taking lots of walks. We stayed at the end of September in the Risch family’s Finnish-style cabin, which was just as described. The wood-burning stove made the evenings wonderfully cozy. Mrs. Risch was very attentive. After we talked briefly, she immediately bought us a new kettle and mini-oven. We felt very comfortable, and we’re looking forward to seeing you again. If you enjoy being outdoors and aren’t expecting a 5-star hotel, you’ll find what you need to feel at home here.
