Stadthotel Iserlohn

The room was clean, the bed was good, and breakfast was good. But I wouldn’t stay here again. The advertised parking garage is extremely small, and I’d rather use the one around the corner for about the same price. The TV remote was broken and they couldn’t fix it, there was no refrigerator, and there’s no air conditioning. The hallways were hot, although the rooms stayed cool because of the weather. At 30 degrees C, I think this hotel would be impossible to stay in. The elevator only reaches the third floor, so you have to take the stairs to floor four. The breakfast room is only accessible by elevator. In a fire, I’m sure most people in the hotel would be dead. I’d suggest bulldozing it and building a new one.

Breakfasts were excellent, with plenty of choice and everything fresh and tasty. The rooms were good, though the hotel itself is a bit outdated. Be aware that the garage cameras don’t record video, they only show a live view. When we had an incident, they weren’t able to help us.

The employees are super nice, and the restaurant is good, but the room wasn’t clean and didn’t look like the one I reserved on the website. There were insects on the bed, and the squeeze bottles for liquid soap and shower gel had visible fingerprints. Hotels should use contactless automatic dispensers. The tissue box was more than half empty. The room was too cold. The radiator may have been defective or too small to heat it, and hotels usually have central heating. The bed linens were very rough and poor quality. There was one tiny, deflated pillow, and it gave me neck pain.

The hotel could use an update, but I still think it deserves four stars, mainly because the service is excellent and the staff are friendly. Breakfast was great too. I had trouble sleeping the first night because the pillow was thin. I didn’t complain, but the next day there were extra pillows on the bed, which surprised me. There were free earplugs as well, perhaps because major building work is going on next to the hotel, though we didn’t hear any of it. A bottle of water was also provided in the room.
