Hotel Sonne

The food was even better than the rooms, which were large, clean and comfortable. It’s close to the motorway but still quiet and charming.

My room was tucked behind a fire door, which felt odd, though it was modern and nicely furnished, and the bathroom was very clean. We were there for two nights with colleagues, but our rooms were spread across different buildings and far apart. The reservation had all our names wrong, and they struggled to correct them on the invoice. Staff were rude throughout, especially at dinner and checkout. I didn’t care much for breakfast, and dinner wasn’t very good either. I don’t recommend the hotel and won’t stay again.

The attic room had a single roof window facing the street, and the noise kept waking us up all night. It was August, so we tried closing the window, but then the room got really warm. We slept badly the whole night. At checkout, I told reception how loud it had been. She said they have quieter rooms, which I believe, but how was I supposed to know when booking that ours would be so noisy? Breakfast ends at 9am, even on weekends. I really wouldn’t recommend it for tourists hoping to relax and sleep in.

The beds were very comfortable, with memory foam mattresses, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner was good too. Breakfast had lots of choice, both hot and cold, including cereals. Next time I’d ask for a non-smoking room.
