Zum Fehmelbauer

The view from our room in the morning was so peaceful and picturesque, a lovely glimpse of Franconia. We were there on what may have been one of the hottest days of the year, and the rooms were very warm. On another day, they would certainly have been comfortable, and that little issue didn’t spoil our stay. Breakfast was phenomenal, especially in the charming breakfast room. We also loved the traditional local food, including Knoedel and Spaetzle. You could tell real care went into every meal. Fehmelbauer is a remarkable 500-year-old half-timbered house in the heart of Germany. Its historic character makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, while still having modern comforts. The staff were incredibly welcoming and always ready to help with a smile. Staying there was a memorable experience.

Udo is a fantastic chef, and the German food here is excellent. The family who own the restaurant are wonderful people. It’s a warm, friendly place, and I’d recommend it as one of the best restaurants in Bavaria.

The restaurant food was delicious, especially the Schäufele, and the whole stay was amazing. The staff were attentive and cheerful, and I never felt ignored or forgotten. They were friendly, helpful, and just great. Our room was small but cozy, with a very comfortable bed. The building is beautiful and old, with its own character, and there’s a nearby shed where you can park bikes and motorbikes.

The food was a real highlight. I’m vegetarian and loved the salad topped with hot broccoli “hash browns,” and my husband was very happy with the pork shoulder they’re famous for. The restaurant was packed, but since we were staying there, they took us straight to the next available table. The service was lovely, and the bartender generously showed me around the historic house, including the well and the breakfast room, which used to be cow stalls. We were helped with all our bags and could keep our bikes in a locked area. The town is a stop on the Mainradweg. The location is quiet but right in the picturesque old town. We loved everything about our stay. It was perfect.
