The owner’s stories go on for ages, so it’s hard to get a word in. He joins guests at dinner and carries on entertaining them through the evening. There’s also a sweet old dog wandering under the tables, seemingly hard of hearing, with very little hair left. I didn’t like seeing the owner occasionally kick him. The place has a dated, 1950s feel, with rugs everywhere and a mothball smell. The food reminded me of what a granny might cook. Hygiene was mediocre. If you ask nicely, you can get six hours of Wi-Fi. We paid substantially more for both the room and dinner than the website advertised. Book or visit at your own risk.

Marc and Tatyana were wonderful to us, especially since we booked at short notice during the busy wine festival season, when places are usually full a year ahead. The B&B was clean and comfortable, and it’s close to the Moselle in Klotten, with Cochem just a short drive away. We enjoyed the breakfast and the wine you can buy directly from Marc’s cellar. We stayed here as part of a larger group and had a great time. The village around the hotel is lovely, and breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly and ready to help. I’d happily return and recommend the place.

The hosts were friendly and breakfast was okay, but I wouldn’t stay again. It felt unrenovated and overpriced, with musty-smelling linen. The mattress seemed like it hadn’t been changed in 50 years, and the bathroom smelled of chlorine. The place looked straight out of the 1950s, with little done since. I’ve no idea how it got an 8.5 rating on Booking.
