Hotel im Hagen

I had a quiet, very clean room with a comfortable bed, plus a balcony and a great view. The owner was especially friendly and seems to run most of the hotel herself. It’s a large, reasonably priced, down-to-earth place with a personal feel. The furnishings are clearly dated, though they hint at how modern the hotel once was, and some renovations would freshen things up.

Everything was spotlessly clean, and there was a new mattress and a good breakfast. The decor is a little dated, as people have mentioned. The hotel sits at the foot of the Mount of Olives, with good options for hiking and cycling nearby.

We felt more at home here than at the more modern hotel in town where we also stayed, and the breakfast at the Hagen Hotel was far better. The house has a classic, perhaps slightly old-fashioned feel, and the rooms and bathroom could use renovation. Still, it’s incredibly cozy, quiet, and we were lucky to have a balcony view. The breakfast buffet was very good and had enough for us, even if it wasn’t as extravagant as some. If I remember right, there were fresh bakery rolls in several varieties, and everything seemed prepared with care. The management were warm, polite, attentive, and pleasant. I could overlook the small renovation issues. It’s a different sort of hidden gem, and the Hotel im Hagen will stay on my list. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

A quiet, affordable place to stay overnight, with a good breakfast and a friendly owner who runs the house almost single-handedly. There’s no longer a restaurant on site, but you can find places to eat in the village and nearby.
