Hotel Pension Graf

The location was the one good thing, but the place itself was disappointing. It could be a lovely, charming hotel, yet it needs renovation, or at least a fresh coat of paint. The old windows were noisy even when shut, and we weren't allowed to open them all the way. There was dust everywhere, one towel was dirty, and the shower head was nearly broken. The main door stayed open 24/7, with no reception or security. We like supporting small businesses, but owners need to invest in their property too. At 150 Euro a night, we expected somewhere more decent and cleaner. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤟🏼✌🏼

Bed bugs in both rooms turned our trip into a nightmare. We noticed them in the first bed soon after arriving. With reception unattended, we called the owner/manager, who came within 5-10 minutes and offered another room, saying it seemed to be an isolated issue in just one room. We accepted because it was late on a Saturday and finding another place then would have been difficult. We searched the second beds frantically and couldn't see any bugs at first, but after a couple of hours in bed we were being bitten again. We barely rested that night. The worry and work of trying not to bring them home was awful. We had everything professionally washed and dry-cleaned before going into our house, which cost us time and money. The owner was generally nice and refunded us immediately, but our trip was still more than ruined. Everything else about the hotel became irrelevant. Worst nightmare for a traveller.

The toilet was only about 50cm from the bed, separated by a flexible sliding screen of some sort. The bathroom had no ventilation, and the room felt dark and cold. It was the worst hotel I’ve seen in Germany. Although the location was good, the place was very old and neglected. Definitely not suitable for families. We paid, then spent the rest of the day trying to find somewhere better to stay.

The rooms are basic but clean, and the staff quickly helped me with a late check-in. The hotel is 50 m from the train station, with a bar just to the left of the entrance and a small boutique on the right.
