astral Inn Hotel Leipzig

Rooms were comfortable, check-in was easy, and the staff were really friendly and knew their stuff. I booked through hotel.de from Berlin Airport just after arriving, and it cost less than turning up without a booking. The buffet breakfast was very good: plenty of choice, warm bread rolls, hot coffee, cold meats, cheese, and fresh fruit salad. The tram is a 10-minute walk away and goes straight to central Leipzig. Highly recommended.

The room was clean and quite good, though the beds felt a little old. It was also very warm, so we had to sleep with the windows open. A party downstairs went on until 3 a.m., and with the windows open, it was noisy and I didn’t sleep very well.

There were lots of flies on the windowsill when we got to the room, which is why I’m giving three stars. The room itself was an okay size, with a large shower in the bathroom, and the nearby parking spaces are free. Service was okay, though we only used it once. I can’t comment on the restaurant or breakfast. The hotel is in far west Leipzig, with public transport close by, but getting there at night is difficult without a car or taxi: there’s no service from 1 to 4 o’clock.

The carpets were dirty, though the bathroom was reasonably clean. Water pressure and temperature were pretty unstable. Wi-Fi was free but almost unusable, around 50 kB/sec. Prices were low and breakfast was good.
