Radisson Blu Hotel, Leipzig

The people are friendly and easy to approach, and the local architecture is stunning. Leipzig is my favourite German city, small and compact, with an amazing railway station. That’s also why Raddisson Blu stands out for customer care. The staff are wonderful.

I’ve already spent over 50 nights here this year. It’s one of my favourite hotels in Leipzig, with really nice people, great service, and the option of free parking outside the hotel. The rooms are a little old but still fine. The hotel will probably start renovating next year.

The breakfast buffet was the best part for me. There was a good range of food and drinks, including the option to squeeze your own fresh OJ. We liked sitting there watching the people and trams go by. It’s always fascinating to see locals getting on with their day. The hotel looks clean and modern, and our room was generally clean too. We’d booked for two adults and a child, but found three double beds pushed together in a way that just about worked. Were there no two queens or even a king? After an 18-hour trip, we were glad to have a proper bed, so it didn’t matter much. What we hadn’t expected was that the fridge wasn’t there, even though it was supposed to be. We ended up throwing away our leftover food from meals out.

Everyone at the hotel was so kind, and the service was excellent. Since it was my birthday, the receptionist even sent a complimentary slice of cheesecake to my room. Top! We paid for a premium room because we wanted the view, but the mattresses had deep dips and felt old, making sleep uncomfortable. The room also had a sunny smell. My husband noticed it more than I did and said it smelled like a toilet. He thought the much cheaper hotel a few blocks away was better, because at least it didn’t smell there.
