Villa Rana

I stayed here about two years ago, and it didn't feel like the place it claimed to be. The owner seemed to have given up on hosting guests: the "breakfast room" no longer served breakfast, and when we went to brush our teeth at around 10pm, she complained to us (!) about it.

I miss the calm atmosphere at Villa Rana Lindau already. There was no stress, nobody bothering me, and no contact with other people, just a chance to relax. It felt like a wellness hotel, with an all-inclusive feel and a sauna and large bathtub just for you. The staff were very friendly, and the owner was accommodating and communicative. The place was so clean, too. After visiting many hotels around Europe, this one from the Seychelles to Vorarlberg, Austria, really surprised me. I'll be back soon. Relaxing, peaceful, delightful 😉. The apartment is pleasant in itself and in a good location, but it wasn't remotely worth the price. I won't book it again. The experience could really ruin a vacation. There was dust everywhere and even some cobwebs, so I can't imagine it had been properly cleaned before we arrived, despite the extra €65 cleaning fee. The whole place smelled musty and unpleasant, especially the bed, which we were reluctant to use. The kitchen was bare, with hardly any dishes or cutlery and no kettle. We also had to supply our own toilet paper, bin bags, dish soap, and sponge. Separating trash is fine, but the recycling bins were just left lying around in the room. There was only one fly screen, on a window, and it wasn't attached properly, just leaning against the wall. The apartment door didn't feel secure either. Someone could easily push it open and at least look inside, giving us a fright, even if they couldn't get in straight away. The hostess was okay, though I felt she either lacked experience or didn't put guests' well-being first. For instance, she went into the room while we were out and turned up the refrigerator temperature. That wasn't right.

We had a very pleasant stay at Villa Rana. Our room was clean and individually decorated, and the hostess was very nice. The bus stop is close by, which makes the location really convenient. Breakfast at the guesthouse in the annex was no problem at all. The staff there were competent and friendly, and the buffet was plentiful and sustainable, with butter, jam, yogurt, and other things served in small or sometimes larger glass jars.
