Hotel Wiesengrund

The owner, who also works at reception, is a host with a huge heart. The hotel isn't the latest “Crowne Plaza”, but the rooms are big, old, and still in good condition. Back in 2018, the Wi-Fi connection was bad, though I think that's the area's fault. I also had the best Schnitzel I've ever eaten there, with the crispiest fries. For a hotel this size, the pool is enormous, and it's another way to spend time alongside talking with people there. Some time ago, I had a fairly large room with a balcony, a table set, and an ashtray, so I could have a cigarette late at night or early in the morning without getting dressed and styled first. The balcony view was great, with the hotel well placed in the forest. Watch out for animals, such as chickens, on the road up. I plan to come back for a weekend hike with my young daughter.

The surroundings are beautiful, the service very good, and the food tasty.

We didn't stay overnight, so I can't say anything about the rooms. The food was very good, the dining rooms are large, and there's a big parking lot.

On July 29, 2025, my wife and I were warmly welcomed by the owner, even though the restaurant was closed. The kitchen was serving hotel guests, and the waitstaff were very friendly. The food was excellently prepared. We drove the 30 km back on August 3, 2025, to book the restaurant for my mother-in-law's 94th birthday. This time, a very unfriendly server greeted us. The salad was undressed, the fries were undercooked, and the schnitzel was burnt and not cooked through properly. I complained politely but got no response. Kitchen mistakes can happen, but unfriendly service is unacceptable.
