The building itself isn’t very inviting, but the renovated rooms and restaurant have a Mediterranean style. My room was small, clean and renovated, with average but adequate equipment. I was next to the hotel sign, which lit up the room like a solarium. The blackout curtains were good but didn’t block everything. Luckily, I found the control for the motorized outside roller blind, which made the room completely dark. Somebody had thought of that 😊. Breakfast was standard, so fine. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Although the hotel is beside the train station, I didn’t hear anything, and the center, with nice pubs and restaurants, is just a five-minute walk away. I’d stay here again.

It’s a cheap place to stay in a good spot right by the train station, if you’re fine with a clean but slightly dated room. There’s no free Wi-Fi. Because of the Corona restrictions, reception staff were there for limited hours. The key left in the mailbox worked well for my late arrival, and the invoice was ready in my room.

The location near the train station is good, and the rooms are quiet and generally okay. However, neither the hotel nor our room was very clean. The staff member at arrival wasn’t very friendly, though the person working in the morning was indeed very friendly. We found better value options in Lörrach, so we’d only stay here if the other hotels were fully booked.

The breakfast was extremely poor, and the bathroom furniture had swollen from the humidity. Even the toilet lid had been fixed unprofessionally. I paid 150 Euro for 2 nights, which felt far too high. To me, this is a 2 star hotel at most, worth no more than 40 Euro a night.

If Basel is full, which can happen during major fairs, this hotel is a good alternative. It's close to the train station, clean, and has good beds. Breakfast was excellent too.
