B&B Hotel Ludwigshafen

The hotel itself was okay, but we ran into problems with the location and with information we weren’t given. There was no baby bed available. We also had trouble getting to our car: the receptionist said the shopping mall parking across the street opened at 6 a.m., but on Sundays it opens at 8, and he didn’t mention that. The next day, city streets around the hotel were closed for a large carnival celebration, which the receptionist also hadn’t told us about. Leaving by car was a real hassle.

The only real plus was the location, near the Rhine River, an amusement park, a shopping mall and public transport. The room smelled unpleasant, especially the bathroom, with a smell like cigarette smoke despite this being a non-smoking hotel. We had to open the windows to clear it. The lift was small, old and slow, and although the hotel looked updated, it didn’t seem as clean as others at the same price in Germany. The booking website was confusing and kept shifting our date to the following day. We ended up paying twice, and the hotel wouldn’t refund or change the booking.

We booked an hour in advance and kept trying to set the dates correctly, but the reservation still came through for the wrong dates. The hotel wouldn’t credit us, so we paid again, twice the amount, for a room that smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. It was a horrible experience. There’s no parking. Avoid it if you can.

A perfectly okay place for the price if you need a night in Ludwigshafen. It’s close to all the essentials, and breakfast was good.
