Hotel Lu

The manager is friendly, and the shower has a nice design. It's a small hotel, with a cool bed in every room.

The breakfast was a real highlight, with plenty of hot and cold choices: fresh bread and pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, eggs, yogurt, and muesli. The coffee was especially good and caught me by surprise. I also appreciated the fast, reliable Wi-Fi, which matters to me because I often work online. My room was spacious, clean, and well kept, and I slept comfortably in the bed. Hotel Lu is right in the city center and easy to find. The decor is modern and stylish, and the atmosphere felt relaxing as soon as I arrived. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. I had a wonderful stay and was more than satisfied. I'd gladly stay again next time I'm in town. Thanks for a pleasant visit.

For €80, this was no bargain. There was no parking, and the cleanliness was dreadful: stained, hairy beds, uncleaned toilets, cobwebs everywhere, damp walls, and a musty smell in the rooms. The bathroom door handle came off in my hand. When I complained, the woman at reception showed no sympathy and said nobody had complained in the five years the hotel had been open, though the reviews here say otherwise. She brushed it off with “I don't understand the complaint” and “It's just minor things.” The complaint wasn't handled in a customer-friendly way. Absolutely not recommended. Never again.

The hotel is fine for 2-3 nights, but I wouldn't want to stay longer. If I could, I'd give it 2.5 stars. The main problem is how noisy it is: I wake up when other guests leave their rooms or when someone comes into the hotel at night. Breakfast is okay but poor value for the price, just two rolls, sausage, cheese, coffee, and so on. The breakfast room has two large IKEA tables with benches, so you sit beside strangers if that's your thing, and the furniture feels cheap. The location is very handy, with Edeka, ALDI, Sparkasse, pizza, a hairdresser, pharmacy, kebab shop, and bus stop all within walking distance. Guests can also park in the Edeka lot. The staff are very friendly, the beds are fine, and the bathroom is okay. The hotel seems fairly new and is generally clean, but there's a strange smell in the room and bathroom. There's no toothbrush holder, minibar, or fridge; a microwave and paid coffee machine are available in the common room. The Wi-Fi isn't great either. You have to sign in through Facebook, which triggers an automatic email, or by email address. Sometimes Netflix streams, sometimes it doesn't.
