Leoso Hotel Ludwigshafen

It was quiet around the hotel, and getting there was easy since it's right above the tram stop and opposite the bus and S-Bahn station. We arrived a little early, but check-in was simple. The room was clean, towels were already in the bathroom, and the staff were polite. We only stayed one night and didn't book breakfast, so I can't comment on it.

I keep ending up here for work because there aren't many alternatives. The staff are friendly and nearly always smiling, breakfast for 5 euros is excellent, and the rooms are large. But the rooms get unbearably hot. There's a fan, but it barely helps. The hotel needs to sort out air conditioning, so that's why I can only give it one star.

The friendly, helpful staff were a plus, and parking on site for 8€ a night seemed fair. The furniture and equipment feel dated, though, and the building looks a bit sad. The AC unit looked like it came from the 80s and sounded like a ship's engine. Breakfast was quite expensive for what they served.

The room and beds were clean, but that didn't make up for the problems. At checkout I was charged 140 Euros per night, even though the website showed 70 Euros and I called to book two nights, confirming the price twice by mobile. Complaining made no difference, and I know I should have got it in writing. The shower water kept swinging between too hot and cold, with no way to set a steady temperature. The air conditioning made an incredible racket but didn't cool the overheated hotel, including the rooms. You can't switch it off, and the windows don't open, so there's no other fresh air. It was hot and noisy at night, which I really didn't like. I won't stay here again, and anyone considering it might want to think twice. The construction work wasn't audible, at least in summer, because the AC drowned it out.
