We waited two hours just to check in, and when they finally let us, our intended room wasn't ready. We were given another one, but had to carry our bags up all five floors while looking for a room that was clean and ready. The floor in the room we found was almost caved in, and there was no soap. At least we only had to sleep there one night. Before we arrived, our American friend called to confirm the booking. During that call, someone yelled at him and said his English was super bad. Not happy with this place, though it was one hell of a trip.

We found this hotel for a night in Lübeck, and the rooms were very affordable. It's centrally located, with friendly staff and free public parking five minutes away. Our room was large and cozy, with fresh furnishings. It worked perfectly for the four of us, and we'd happily recommend it.

The hotel is in a great location, and the staff were really nice and accommodating. Our room looked like it came straight from the 90s, but it was clean and had the usual things, including Wi-Fi, TV and shampoo. I do wish they'd had some vegan breakfast options, since we'd told them two weeks before we came. Still, we had a great visit in a lovely town.

We'd stayed here several times, but this was the last. The location still deserves a star, but after the sale the new owners seemed to have no idea about customer service. Our room hadn't been cleaned when we arrived, there was blood on the toilet, one bed had no linen, the sheet was dirty and towels were missing. It took six hours to get things into better shape. Breakfast was thin coffee and soft-boiled eggs that were hard-boiled. Last year it was very good, but this time was a big disappointment.

We had a great view from our window, including the full moon rising over a church steeple. The Phönix hotel was really nice overall, with clean rooms, a central location and a very nice breakfast. The outlet situation was frustrating: there was nowhere by the bed to plug in a phone. The shower was tiny, and I hit my head on the ceiling a few times, though that wasn't too bad.
