Gästehaus Kaiserhof Lübeck

The service was fantastic, the best of the six hotels we stayed in on the way to Italy and back. It’s about a 15 minute walk to Lübeck old town. Our room was big, but a little old and worn, and there was no minibar or air conditioning.

The team made us feel unsafe and unwelcome from the moment we arrived until we left. The men were very aggressive, and acted as if they were doing us a favor by letting us stay. The hotel is very, very old, and the website photos are misleading. In reality, it’s moldy. Save your money and, most of all, your time.

I’ve stayed here three times. The first was in the main building, and the last two visits were in 2019, after it had been renovated. We asked for separate beds and got them. The rooms were good, clean, and well kept, and on the last visit we had a suite. The breakfast buffet was very good, and I really have nothing to complain about. Parking can be scarce, though. On weekends we’ve had to park along the street, but that hasn’t been an issue on weekdays.

The location is very central, which is a big plus, and the room was large with a lovely balcony. But for the price, the rooms need updating. Everything feels very old, like the hotel may have been lovely 10 to 20 years ago. Even the pillows have seen better days. There are only a few parking spaces, so parking is usually unavailable. You can find something nearby, but it can be a bit of a struggle.
