Lazarus Hotel & Restaurant

Good.

The service was friendly and attentive throughout, and we were served a very good rum at the table. I can't recall what it was called, but it tasted superb. We'd made a last-minute Sunday afternoon plan with eight people to eat somewhere in the Sauerland region. Despite the area being busy with good snow and winter sports, a quick phone call sorted us out easily. When we arrived, the restaurant was quiet, and we had a large, set table in a private room. We could all sit together and order straight away, which made for a relaxed start. Everyone got a complimentary warm cream soup with croutons, just right after being out in the cold. I had pork schnitzel with sweet potato fries and creamy mushroom sauce; others chose a burger and a meat platter. The dishes looked lovely and tasted fantastic, the prices were very reasonable, and the wait was pleasantly short. We felt welcome, and would happily come back.

The rooms are small, but functional and quite adequate for a short stay. The friendly staff made things very pleasant. For a hotel in this category, four stars feel well deserved. I'd be glad to stay here again.

The food is a real treat: fresh ingredients, nicely presented and deliciously prepared, with portions that leave nothing to be desired. The menu is clear and has the classics you can often search for in vain elsewhere. Hospitality and style come together here, while the place still feels down to earth. It's hard to explain, you have to experience it yourself.
