Maritim Hotel Magdeburg

The shower had good water flow, but the temperature kept changing. Breakfast was really good, with plenty of variety, and the hotel is very central, about a five-minute walk from the main train station. The rooms felt very dated, and there wasn't even a coffee machine. Sound insulation was terrible. With the huge lobby hall, you could literally hear all the noise, and I didn't enjoy that at all. For a short business trip, it might be worth considering, but the noise made it a poor stay for me.

The Wi-Fi didn't work at all, which was a serious problem since I work remotely and had to use my personal mobile data. There was no hot water either, so I couldn't shower. I lost several hours of work and paid accommodation while waiting for these issues to be dealt with. I booked through Booking.com for an urgent work trip and had a confirmed reservation, but on arrival the hotel said it wasn't in their system and rejected it. In just a few minutes, they raised the price twice, and I had no realistic choice but to accept the much higher rate. The staff were rude and dismissive. I complained during and after my stay, but the complaint wasn't properly handled. For €140, that level of service was completely unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The riverside setting made it easy to unwind after exploring the city, and the view was genuinely relaxing. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast had a fresh, varied selection. The stay at Maritim Hotel was surprisingly pleasant.

The location is awesome, but street noise was really high even on the third floor. The place is a bit dated, though the room was clean. Some reception staff could use a hospitality course, while others were really awesome. The bar and restaurant could have better opening hours.
