Badischer Hof Hotel

A super hotel.

We lasted about 30 minutes before leaving and finding somewhere else to stay. What a waste of money. The bathroom was very old, with dark brown tiles and a 25W light. It smelled bad enough that air freshener and toilet cleaner were the only way to tolerate it, and the white toilet had brown marks in the glaze, not excrement. The whole place was badly run down. Maybe it was great 30 years ago, but now it's a dump, really only for very robust DIYers.

We arrived at 10:30 PM after booking through Agoda, and were left outside for 1.5 hours. There was no receptionist, just a coded door that was supposed to work with the code in the reservation email. No code had come through, and nobody at the hotel answered our calls. We even woke people up inside, including another Turkish guest in room 15. He said he hadn't received the email either and had needed to call to confirm his reservation. Anyone booking should contact the hotel for the code in advance. We had to find another hotel late at night and pay much more. I absolutely don't recommend this place.

The grounds are spacious, green, and peaceful, and the S-Bahn is right outside. The highway is close too, so Heidelberg and Mannheim are easy to reach. I've stayed here twice and plan to come back. Rooms are clean and comfortable, some newer and some older, with everything you need. It's cozy and affordable for the price. Breakfast isn't being offered at the moment, which is a shame, so I'd give the service 4 stars.
