Hotel Mack

The bed was comfortable, and it was very quiet around me when I slept. I felt safe traveling alone as a woman. The room was very clean and perfectly adequate for one person. Even though I arrived in the evening, the staff kindly helped me find my room over the phone in English. The corridor decorations were cute too. I only wish there were a place to smoke in the courtyard, instead of only out front.

This was my second year choosing the hotel for a local conference. The room and the rest of the hotel were great, though there’s no espresso at breakfast. What made the stay frustrating was the light shining into room 310 at night. I barely slept the first night. At breakfast, my colleague mentioned she had a roller shutter, so I assumed I’d simply missed mine. But when I went to bed the next night, I realized my room didn’t have one, and I again slept badly. That would have brought my rating down to four stars. At checkout, the owner asked how our nights had been, so I explained the problem. First, the host said the street outside was dark and had no lights, which wasn’t true. Then he insisted my room had a roller shutter that I hadn’t noticed. Worst of all, he laughed at me in front of my colleague and another guest. Once he knew my room number, he evidently understood there was no shutter, but still didn’t apologize. When a guest is asked how their stay was, complaints should be met with respect and a welcoming attitude. That wasn’t my experience.

The staff were warm and helpful, and the manager even showed us to our rooms when we arrived late. They also made special arrangements for our baby. It’s one of the nicest and prettiest three-star hotels I’ve stayed in, with lovely room decor and lighting. They’d clearly made an effort to make the place warm and cozy. The location is nice, with tram stops within walking distance and the Neckar riverside nearby. Since we arrived at night, we didn’t see many shops around. The only thing we didn’t like was the breakfast price, which seemed a bit high for what was offered. Still, it was a very positive stay, and we’d come back.

The two brothers who own this beautiful, clean, well-maintained hotel are such good people. Their service and hospitality were wonderful. We were going through a very emotional and difficult time in our lives, and they always treated us so well and made sure we were happy. I have so much to say and not enough words. Those two brothers are like angels. If I ever go to mannheim again, I’ll make sure to book this hotel and see them again. ❤️❤️❤️
