The price is the one real advantage here. A chain hotel should offer a consistent experience wherever you stay, and this place didn’t. The A/C barely worked and was loud, and room service didn’t replenish my coffee or tea. During my three-night stay, the room was skipped entirely one day. At the bar, I waited at least 10 minutes before anyone showed up to serve my welcome drink, then found out they didn’t have lager. I can get a glass of lager on a glacier, an airplane, and just about everywhere else, but not at the hotel bar? This place needs new management and a renovation.

There’s a handy little self-service section with drinks and sweets. The rooms were good and very clean, and the staff were efficient and friendly.

Free parking, affordable rooms, and an easy spot just off the Autobahn, fairly close to Mannheim centre. What made my stay especially nice was the service. Everyone was helpful and polite, and John and Timo at the bar were great hosts. They were friendly and gave me useful tips on places to visit around Mannheim and Heidelberg.

The meals, including breakfast, were good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. But the hotel was full on a very busy weekend, and only one elevator was working. It was extremely slow, shared by all the guests and housekeeping staff carrying dirty linens. Some rooms also don’t have a refrigerator, coffee maker, or hot water pot. With these conveniences and amenities, I’d call it a two-star hotel rather than four. I’m sorry to the two-star hotels I’ve stayed in that were better!
